Funeral Luncheon Policy


The Pastor contacts the Funeral Meal Coordinator, currently Deb Harris, when a funeral luncheon is requested at Lewisberry United Methodist Church. The Pastor gives the name and phone number for contact to the Funeral Meal Coordinator. The Funeral Meal Coordinator will arrange all the details based on the time of the funeral and interment, and the number expected at the luncheon.

For Church Members—

Example of menu:

For 50-60 people (quantity adjusted by number expected): The cost is approximately $200.

2 meat/cheese trays and rolls

20 lbs. potato/macaroni salad

1 vegetable tray

1 fruit tray

2 bags of chips

If the family desires any additional foodstuffs, they may provide.

Either the family provides the supplies and food or if arranged, the coordinator may order and pick up supplies and food, giving the receipt to the family for reimbursement. All leftovers are given to the family.

Additional items for the luncheon may be donated by volunteers from the church include:

one hot dish (macaroni & cheese or baked beans)

punch, coffee, tea, cream, sugar, ice

An honorarium for the Women’s Circle for providing their services is suggested at $75.

For Others—

The family provides supplies and all foods. The Women’s Circle provides the labor for set-up, serving, and clean-up.

An honorarium for the Women’s Circle is suggested at $75. There is no charge for building use when the luncheon is followed by a funeral/memorial service at the church.
