1738 John Wesley began the Methodist movement in England. The believers were called Methodists due to their disciplined lives dedicated to worship, study, and service.
1769 John Wesley sent the first Methodist preachers to America.
1781 Freeborn Garrettson, a circuit-riding preacher, delivered the first Methodist sermon in Lewisberry.
1798 The town of Lewisberry was laid-out by Eli Lewis.
1806 Eli Lewis donated our current property to the church.
1781-1811 The church met in peoples' homes in Lewisberry.
1811 A one-room stone church was built on our property.
1856 The 1811 stone building was torn down and a brick building was constructed in its place with a bell tower. This building is the eastern part of our current building.
1900 The 1856 building was remodeled.
1960 A one-floor social hall was added to the church on the west side of the building.
1980 The 1856 sanctuary was remodeled for a second time.
1979 and 1981 Three churches, Lisburn, Grace (in Lewisberry), and Wesley (the current building), merged into the Lewisberry United Methodist Church.
2000 Our modular building was constructed that is currently our Clothing Closet.
2007 Our current sanctuary was built over the 1960 social hall and extended into Parsonage Street to the south.
